Vocabulary

WordGirl is a new animated series from PBS. WordGirl, is a superhero set as a 5th grade girl teaches vocabulary through “a variety of fun and interesting contexts.” We all know that a rich vocabulary helps students find success across all content areas and improves reading comprehension – so do our friends in public television Here is the schedule link to this week on WVIZ for the Cleveland area. Starting the season of research reports? Need a review? Do not forget a favorite activity from the International Reading Association – especially great on interactive whiteboards: Fact Fragment Frenzy, part of the Notes, Quotes and Fact Fragments lesson plan – helps teach the fine art of note taking. *IRA lesson plan for grades 3-5. I’ve seen it work in middle school and bet it could help some HS students.
