Assessment of Information Literacy Skills

Trails 9Perhaps you are like me and have noticed that some students believe everything they see on the Internet.

Do you sometimes wonder if the digital natives are truly adept Internet users?

Are you aware that Ohio has Academic Content Standards for Information Literacy and that these standards are embedded in the tested curriculum?

TRAILS 9, a Tool for Real-time Assessment of Information Literacy Skills helps educators assess the information-seeking and information literacy skills of high school students. This is another high quality tool from our friends in the School of Library and Information Science, at Kent State University. TRAILS is a project of ILILE: The Institute for Library and Information Literacy Education.

The 9 stands for 9th grade students. A grade 6 assessment is on the way! TRAILS has a wiki for sharing information literacy lessons and tools.
