Happy New Year
As the school year begins I want to take moment to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I was thinking a bit about how similar the new school year and New Year really are. Both are times to think about how we arrived at where we are. Both are times to take stock of the things that we have accomplished. Both are times to make resolutions about what we will do differently in the next year.
I think that teachers have a unique opportunity to recreate themselves. For example, consider the teacher in a middle school that houses students in grades 7-8. The entire student population recycles every two years. Teachers can literally take advantage of a fresh start every August. I wonder how many do?
At first I decided that beginning this school year I would stop procrastinating. On second thought, I will make that resolution next year. In all seriousness, I have made a resolution that I hope to honor. I resolve to let the incredible teachers I have an opportunity to work with know how impressive their skills are and how much I admire them. I have thought that about so many teachers but have shared my thoughts with too few.
What will be different for you this year?

Nice post, Jeff! Thank you.
This year I will help teachers find their voice, while also providing a venue for sharing their experience and wisdom from the classroom and beyond!
I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
